    Lewis Meline is a medical doctor and expert in nutrition and exercise. He began his education in nutrition and exercise over 45 years ago.

      His Story

        Dr. Meline began his education in nutrition and exercise while serving in the United States Air Force nearly fifty years ago. Like many other military personnel (and civilians for that matter), he was very overweight and out-of-shape. Being like this bothered him to the point that he had to do something about it. Not knowing where to turn, he began to study nutrition and exercise. Eventually, he decided to lift weights for exercise.

        After a few months of research, he obtained a 100-pound weight set and put together a simple routine that could be done in his living room. Along with this, he began to apply the nutrition information that he had been learning. After a few weeks of working out, he noticed that nutrition was affecting his workouts. This encouraged him to continue to study nutrition and weight lifting to maximize the benefits of eating healthily and exercising appropriately.

        Many different athlete's diets were used over the years. They included very high protein intake and many supplements. The supplements were very expensive (nothing has changed in that regard) and there were many times when he could not afford them. However, after several years of blindly following the athlete and other diet plans, and using various supplements, he began to notice that the expected results were not being obtained. There was no difference in his strength and muscle mass during the times that he could take the supplements and when he couldn't. He also noticed that losing weight was no different whether he did or didn’t take various supplements advertised to make you lose weight. What was the cause of this? Was it poor supplements? Taking the wrong supplements or using them inappropriately? Maybe his workouts were inadequate or he was doing the exercises incorrectly or even using the wrong exercises. This observation bothered him and he began to research the answer to these discrepancies.

        During this time, he was accepted to medical school. Now, finally he would be able to get the answers that he sought. However, he was sorely disappointed. Medical school did not teach the physiology he was looking for and it did not address the nutritional questions he wanted to answer. It also did not address weight loss, except for a brief mention of the consequences of being overweight. Therefore, he could not resolve the discrepancies he had noted and was left to research this information on his own.
         

        Dr. Meline continued to study from text books and any other information that he could find. He spent many years studying several thousand research articles and book chapters, and spent a lot of time studying physical exercise and ways to improve his workouts.

         

        There were several vitally important discoveries that he made concerning Diet, Supplements, Weight Loss, Exercise and especially HEALTH. His desire to educate people about his findings led him to write a book, "Lies Exposed," which educates people as to what is proper nutrition, and how to apply that information to losing weight. Large volumes of information were condensed into a concise treatment of these topics and provides everything that someone would need to know concerning Dieting, Supplements, Weight Loss, and Exercise to obtain ultimate health. This information was used to develop the coaching programs used by Straight Shooter Health.

        In his spare time, Dr. Meline loves to be physically active. He continues to lift weights to maintain physical fitness. He also loves to water ski, ride dirt bikes, camp, fish, and do many other outdoor activities with his family.
